For Jaylin, earning her Master of Health Administration in summer 2026 represents more than another academic achievement. It marks a turning point—one defined by discipline, personal growth and a willingness to create a new standard for herself.
“I’m beginning to feel accomplished,” Jaylin shared. “Even though I’ve reached goals before, this one feels like a turning point.”
Completing a graduate degree is demanding under any circumstances, but Jaylin earned hers through an online program. Without the structure of a traditional classroom, she had to remain accountable for her own progress while balancing school with everyday life and her baking business.
Jaylin is especially proud that she remained disciplined throughout the entire program. She continued taking classes without skipping a semester and stayed committed until the work was finished.
Online learning did not make the coursework any less rigorous. One experience Jaylin will never forget was taking a class that required students to complete lengthy research papers every other week. Although the workload tested her, it also became part of the journey that demonstrated her ability to remain focused under pressure.
When asked who inspired her to keep moving forward, Jaylin’s answer was simple: herself.
Both of her parents earned college degrees, establishing a strong academic foundation within their family. Jaylin wanted to build upon that example by taking her education one step further.
“Both of my parents have degrees, so I had to up it a notch and set a new standard,” she said.
Now equipped with her master’s degree, Jaylin is preparing to begin the next phase of her professional journey. She recently applied for a fellowship opportunity with Ochsner Health and hopes to be accepted. While professional success remains an important goal, her larger mission is centered on personal development.
“My goal is to be the best version of myself possible and, of course, be successful in life,” she explained.
Rather than attempting to predict every detail of what comes next, Jaylin is embracing the possibilities ahead. She understands that challenges will be unavoidable, but she is prepared to face them with the same determination that carried her through graduate school.
“I’m just excited to see where life takes me,” she said. “I’m ready for all the challenges that will get thrown my way.”
Her advice to students considering graduate school is to begin as soon as possible after completing their undergraduate education. Jaylin believes that time passes quickly and that returning to an academic routine can become more difficult after spending an extended period away from school.
“Just go for it right out of college,” she advised. “The longer you take a break from school, the harder it is to jump back into that routine.”
Jaylin’s graduation session gave her an opportunity to visually represent every part of her journey. Fashion has always been one of her interests, and she carefully assembled her wardrobe to create an image that combined professionalism with personal style. Her father, whom she describes as a great dresser, also influenced her approach.
“The overall vision was to give professional businesswoman with style,” Jaylin said.
Beyond celebrating her new degree, Jaylin wanted the photographs to tell the full story of what it required to reach this moment. Throughout her years in school, she simultaneously managed her education, personal responsibilities and baking business. Each image represents the many roles she carried while continuing to pursue her goals. Her favorite photograph from the session was a confident portrait of her seated in a chair with a serious expression.
The pose captured the strength, composure and professionalism behind her vision while becoming one of the defining images from an enjoyable studio experience.
Jaylin’s story is a reminder that meaningful accomplishments are built through consistency. Her degree represents the semesters she refused to skip, the research papers she completed, the business she continued operating and the standard she chose to raise.
As she prepares for what comes next, Jaylin leaves others with a direct message:“If you have something you want, go get it.”
